Dwell on Design Los Angeles returns to the L.A. Convention Center May 29th-31st, 2015 to celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary. With an incredible lineup of more than 200 industry leaders in more than 90 conversations onstage, captivating art exhibitions, and, on the show floor an unmatched showcase of the most innovative companies and product offerings on the market, Dwell on Design Los Angeles is a must-attend event. As part of the 10th Anniversary event, Dwell on Design L.A. will offer a unique Artist In Residence series with the Yarn Bombing Los Angeles team and Norm “Nomzee” Maxwell featuring live performances from the show floor.
For Dwell on Design L.A. 2015, artist-in-residence Yarn Bombing Los Angeles presents “Temporary Residence”, a participatory art installation raising awareness for San Fernando-based Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission. Over the course of three days, participants will have the opportunity to sew together blankets from excess granny squares contributed to YBLA’s 2013 capstone project, CAFAM Granny Squared.
Each completed granny square blanket will be added to a yurt structure, setting up a colorful and ephemeral “Temporary Residence”. In addition to creating visual awareness about the transient nature of the homeless community, the granny square blankets will be donated to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission at the end of YBLA’s artist residency.
