Black Box: Decoding the Art Work of Martin Gantman Book Launch
Martin Gantman ’s monumental 10 volume collection of his life’s photographic work will be celebrated next Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at The Abbey on North Robertson Boulevard, in West Hollywood. The artist will be on hand to sign books from 6-8PM.
The best of Martin Gantman’s photographic oeuvre is a bold attempt to order a shambolic universe, now thoughtfully collected in book form. Published in association with the Institute of Cultural Inquiry (ICI), Gantman’s 10 volume boxed set is a retrospective of his photographic preoccupations. This book launch presents a unique opportunity to meet the artist-photographer in person and individually peruse the10 volumes of his work.
Each volume in the collection focuses on a theoretical or practical interest that has compelled him, to explore his background, influences, history, and the development of his almost 40 years of artistic output – a monumental opus. The book includes a foreword by Dr. Lise Patt, Executive Director of the Institute of Cultural Inquiry.
The collector’s edition is signed, numbered, limited to 50 sets and comes in a presentational slipcase. Its $400 cost includes a donation to the Institute of Cultural Inquiry. Every slipcased set contains 10 separate volumes. The paperback edition will also be on sale for $50. The book is available in Print-on-Demand and Ebook versions and can be purchased through bookstores and online booksellers.
